I like Temari. (And Shikamaru)

   Firstly, before I say anything else - Never forget - September 11th, 2001. (I'm 'Murican)

 Now, with that out of the way, 

    I like Temari. (And Shikamaru) That's it. I watched Naruto - the original series, and the entirety of Shippuden, ages ago, (Boruto, I'm not gonna touch with a ten foot pole) but the only thing I can actually remember from those shows are Temari, Shikamaru, and their coupling. I honestly can't recall anything else. But that's probably because there are so few encounters of them, compared to everything else, making it easier to remember. (Kishimoto was never good at writing women, or romantic relationships - just look at Sakura and Sasuke. And it's hard already when you're a side character to a side character.) I remember first seeing them back in '05 when I was 9. And ever since, I've been captivated by their relationship. I even read some of the manga because of them. But I'm not going to say that I'm a Naruto fan, because that'd be a straight-up lie. I only saw it for these two characters. I mean sure, maybe I was interested back then, but I never really got into it like other people. 

   So, to begin with, I'd say that the Chunin exams were a great way to introduce them to each other. Both characters, when we first see them, are smart, but prejudiced people. Temari has somewhat of a superiority complex and sees some if not all the Konoha ninja as weak, and pathetic. She's a hard ass, and it's not surprising, seeing she's from the Village Hidden in the Sand - a harsh place where ruthlessness and completing the mission is valued over everything else, including lives. Shikamaru, on the other hand, - no thanks to his mom, and fellow kunoichi, is extremely sexist and thinks of women as nothing more than trouble. He's lazy and rather uncaring of his surroundings. With these characteristics, it seems like these two are complete opposites destined to never mingle with each other. But, like yin and yang, - or magnets, opposites can attract. 

    Back to the Chunin exams - their battle against each other serves as a way for the first roots to grow. Temari has her expectations subverted after fighting Shikamaru, as, before the fight, she still thinks of Konoha ninja as worthless, but this thought is soon changed after Shikamaru outsmarts and traps her in his Shadow Possession Jutsu. But it's not done there yet, as her expectations are subverted once more, when Shikamaru, in a controversial move, gives up, and hands the victory to her, with the excuse being that he'd run out of Chakra. 

    We don't see them together again until the Sasuke recovery mission, where Shikamaru, about to die by Tayuya's hand, is suddenly saved by a blond bundle swinging her fan in front of Tayuya's blade. 

Will finish later - I ran out of things to say. This was just me writing down what I had in my mind at the moment.
